Legendary Cataract Canyon lies buried in the heart of Utah’s Canyonlands National Park. Our whitewater rafts offer fun and exciting transportation to side canyon grotto’s, waterfalls and ancient Pueblo ruins that are otherwise inaccessible. On this river rafting vacation we see the most vivid contrast between serene tranquility and all-out high adventure.

During the first segment of our river rafting trip the fast-moving current slides us quietly past brilliantly colored cliffs and towering table-top mesas. Here the river conditions both body and soul, giving you time to prepare yourself for the behemoth whitewater rapids awaiting below the confluence of the Green and Colorado rivers.

Nowhere on its entire course does the Colorado River descend more precipitously than through Cataract Canyon. On night three of our river rafting adventure, the Colorado River will not rest. The roar of the cataracts will lull you to sleep, dance in your dreams, only to awaken you the next morning with a new song. Time to batten down the hatches and hold on because this is Cataract Canyon rafting at its best. Twenty-three BIG ONES, among them Mile Long, Ben Hurt and the grand-daddy of them all, The Big Drops, which is a succession of three heavy-hitters that will leave you laughing and cheering. We move 30 feet closer to sea level in less than a mile.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Explore the heart of Canyonlands

EXCELLENT GUIDES

Feb 21, 2014 by Gary Hatley

Our two guides were Alex and Chet. They were excellent guides, safe careful and fun to hang out with. They did a great job and are a credit to the company's business. Thank you for a wonderful time.

PROFESSIONAL, ARTICULATE GUIDES

Sep 03, 2013 by Nancy Cibotti

Your organization went above and beyond to meet my dietary restrictions, and it was very much appreciated. The guides could not have been better suited to our group. Brin, as the lead guide seemed to be always aware in how the group was doing, but in a subtle way. We had 4 boys ranging in age from 8-15 and all the guides were stellar examples for them. Jesse and Alex were also fantastic. All three were professional, attentive, articulate, and very knowledgeable. We also really enjoyed having them share about themselves when asked. Most important they added to the fun!! Although we did some killer hikes, had epic water battles, and 4 great impromptu volleyball games, the biggest laugh for me was the whip cream dessert game!! We all had such a great time. Thank you all again.

LOVED HAVING THE DUCKIES TO PADDLE

Sep 01, 2013 by Douglas & Julie Johanningsmeier

Fabulous! The guides made sure that both adults and kids were entertained, challenged, encouraged and well fed! Guides\' knowledge about local trails, flora, fauna, history and geology was much appreciated and made the hikes really interesting. Having the duckies was a nice option for floating a different style. Guides were brilliant, skilled boatmen, great chefs and made the trip fabulous! Hope to do a trip again soon!

NEVER A PROBLEM

Jul 30, 2013 by Earl and Leslie Wahrmund

After completing so many trips with Holiday, Tammy & I are good friends. There is never any problem & it is always a pleasure booking a trip. Lead Guide LB is special. He guided my whole family through the big day in Cataract Canyon. It was great being on the river with all four guides. Each trip with Holiday is different. All trips are very well run. I am a "gear guy" and notice the Holiday setup and it is clever!

JULY 23-27, 2012, CAT TRIP

Jul 30, 2013 by Win and Wes Thomas

I am back at work after an incredibly fun Cat trip and I cannot focus on my job now! I am still thinking about all the wonderful moments on the Colorado river with the Holiday guides and other guests. The very talented guides, LB, Collin and Kevin, were spectacular in camp, in the kitchen, in the flat water on hikes on guitars and in the rapids. Thanks guys. Everything, from food to music to hikes to games to sandy beaches to weather to rapids, was perfect as usual. I can't wait to get back! Thank you to the entire Holiday team from the office to the river.

GREAT FOR OUR KIDS

Jul 23, 2013 by Andersen-McWilliam Family

We had a wonderful experience. Christian, Brynn, Alex, Justin, Lauren and Julian were all very friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and helpful and did a great job. We enjoyed that each of them had their own areas of expertise and knowledge in relation to the history and geology of the canyon. We especially appreciated Christian's fun box for the kids, which was a sweet touch and provided the kids with many hours of entertainment.

CHECKED THE BOX ON BUCKET LIST!

Jul 02, 2013 by Sam Darby, CA

We had the four best guides one could ask for. As for the food, I paddled three of the days, and still put on four pounds when I got home! This was a item on my " bucket list", and I enjoyed myself to the limit. The guides, and the guests could not have been better. I have now done all your river trips, and each one was great.

I booked directly through Holiday River and they were VERY helpful. The Holiday website is informative and easy to navigate. The guides were great. Very helpful and fun to be around. The food was excellent. They had every detail planned and were well prepared. I have never eaten so well is such an isolated area. My 20year old daughter and I traveled together and it was a wonderful opportunity for a shared experience without all the distractions of everyday life. I am now planning a trip including my son, daughter and a friend. I would not even consider another outfitter. Traveling on the river for five days without the roar of a motor was so relaxing and peacefully. I also enjoyed contact with our fellow travelers. This was a great bunch of people. With much gratitude for a trip well executed.

RETURN TRIP IN OUR FUTURE

Jun 18, 2013 by J. Stangel and N. Schwerman, WI

Everyone we were in contact with was very helpful and friendly! The guides, activities, and food ALL exceeded our expectations!!! I would highly recommend this trip to our family/friends. The guides were the ones who made the trip so memorable. They were friendly, knowledgeable, highly energized, funny, talented, etc... The food was amazing and plentiful. I don't think I ever heard someone complain or see anyone NOT clean their plate off. All ages were satisfied. The weather was incredible (hot at times) and the river was very refreshing. We will definitely consider a return trip in our future.

GO WITH THE FLOW

Jun 13, 2013 by Lyn Siam, CA

Everything and everyone was top notch! Our guides were great! So professional, playful, fun, intelligent, and great boat handlers. They made the trip even more special than it was. Thanks for everything! What a great company full of wonderful people! Their logo is Go With The Flow... And they definitely follow that. They know how to take care of each individuals needs while keeping everyone happy and having fun. The guides really make the trip extraordinary, and they are wonderful cooks! Thank you all very much for such a wonderful time through Cataract Canyon! We'll be back soon!
