Learn a New Skill Adventure Trips

Here at Holiday, we’re proud of “the Holiday Way,” and love to pass on our learnings! Over the years, we’ve learned quite a bit. New for 2024, we’re excited to offer our in-house learn-to-row trip through Desolation Canyon! Join our professional guides for 6 days of rafting through Class I-III rapids. Along the way, learn the basics of rowing an oar rig, practice reading water, river & camp etiquette, and more! Want a more of a solo adventure? We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Rapid Progression Kayak School for 6 days of whitewater kayaking through Desolation Canyon. Holiday guides provide camp logistics and raft support while you learn to paddle your way on 84 miles of the Green River.

For some of us, it’s less about the hands-on element of propelling yourself downstream or into a new adventure, and the new skill you’d like to learn is a form of expression. The scenic San Juan River offers the perfect location for such inspiration. While the current of the San Juan is fast, the rapids are minimal, and the calm cadence of these trips will provide you with plenty of inspiration to try your hand at watercoloring or illustrated journaling. Let Michal Onyon guide you in the art of en pleine aire watercolor painting during 6 days on the full San Juan River this June. Alternatively, explore illustrated journaling with guided drawing exercises led by author, M. L. (Peg) Herring on this special Great Old Broads for Wilderness fundraiser trip.

Come along on our Pixels, Paint, and Prose trip where guest facilitators Chris Peterson, Francisco Kjolseth, and Brett Prettyman offer tips and tricks in the mediums of painting skills, intentional journaling, and night sky photography. With so many ways to capture memories, 4 days on Lodore Canyon will fly by! Astrophotographer, Bettymaya Foote, will be teaching dark sky photography on our Desolation Canyon Stargazing trip – learn to read the stars, and document them!

Of course, we are Bike Raft so we can’t forget the biking! For the second year in a row, we’re partnering with Women in the Mountain’s professional PMBIA certified coaches for a special 4.5 day Women’s White Rim skills clinic this fall. With extra time to allow for skills instruction and practice, what better way to level up your mountain biking than while biking the iconic White Rim?

With so many options to learn a new skill while adventuring in Utah’s great outdoors playground, where will you go?
