The Main Salmon River runs through Idaho in a glistening serpentine pattern, sliding through green river canyons and past beautiful forests of ancient growth. River rafting through the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, a pristine area of seemingly endless gorgeousness, is bonus enough! To make it even better, relax into the comfortable familiarity of an all-women trip. Enjoy the excellent Main Salmon River, complete with rejuvenating yoga. Just hang out and say “aahhh.”
Women tend to unwind and loosen up more when in the company of other women. Add in the resetting of your body clock to the natural rhythms of nature for six days on the Main Salmon, and you’ve got the recipe for refreshment and revitalizing yourself. Stretch out in classic yoga poses on a white sandy beach with instructor Dana Menlove. Sit cross-legged on a boulder by the burble of the river. Close your eyes in meditation for a while as you find your peaceful center. Tip your face back to greet the sunshine as your boat floats down a calm section of the water.
You also get to have fun bobbing through the roller coaster rapids of the Main Salmon, which hover in the Class II and III range. Dipping up and down through the small waves while the outstanding scenery flashes by is a trip highlight. Other cool possibilities: catching a glimpse of the abundant wildlife along the Salmon River corridor, including bighorn sheep, river otters, salmon, moose, marmots, and more.
