Desolation Canyon, on the upper Green River, is one of Utah’s lesser-known treasures. It’s a deep, wild river canyon full of stories and history dating back thousands of years. Each summer, Holiday guides lead groups of families and friends beneath its walls, adding their own stories to the canyon’s rich history. Here we present a sample of those stories, reviews from those whose lives have been enriched from their time spent in Desolation Canyon. For as much as you are now a part of the canyon’s history, it, too, is now a part of yours.

Long Lasting Memories

I have done many different trips of this type and all aspects exceeded my expectations. We enjoyed this experience as a family and it created memories that will last for generations. Thank you.

Thoughts

We just got back from a six-day Holiday Green River rafting trip through Desolation Canyon and will be “glowing” with the joy of the experience for a very long time to come. There were 11 of us, and it was a very memorable experience – celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren. The experience had to be something really special and boy was it ever! Every aspect of the trip was amazing: from our wonderful, warm, thoughtful, professional, and “people/kid” friendly guides, Brian, Malia, and Wade, to the food (fantastic and plentiful) – to the sheer grandeur of the scenery!

Activities

We hiked and rafted and, those of us so inclined paddled our “duckies” down the river and through the rapids.  We sang songs around the fire at night while Brian and my granddaughter took turns playing the guitar.  We had a pirate day and a laser night.  We ate s’mores and gourmet meals.   We played cards and charades.  Set up camp in beautiful sites.  We saw Mountain Goats and wild horses.  Swatted some mosquitoes and watched awesome storms with magnificent lightning shows light up the world around us. We found a quiet space in a too hectic world,  felt the stress and the pressure of jobs and school and life slip away in the churning waters of the Green River.

Thanks

Thank you seems a bit inadequate for such a memorable experience that will last a lifetime and provide us, as a family, with memories we will treasure always.

To all of you at Holiday – our gratitude!

Family River Rafting Review:

We cannot thank Holiday and its guides enough for a wonderful family rafting trip down the Green River earlier this month. Our guides, Rick and Noel (and trainees Kristin and Shaina) were prepared, extremely capable and energetic, and FUN. Their enthusiasm for the Green River through Desolation Canyon was infectious, and we thoroughly enjoyed all the side hikes and exploration we were able to do. Our kids (8 and 10) loved the water and all the games the guides played with them.

The Food

Did I mention the food was fantastic? We’ve been singing Holiday’s praises to all our friends here in Tennessee. Holiday’s rafting guides, preparation, and attention to detail really impressed us, and we hope we’ll have an opportunity to take another Holiday rafting trip again soon.

Many, many thanks!

Loved The Kayak Workshop

All aspects of the trip exceeded my expectations. Chet was a phenomenal trip leader. Andy did a super job with the kayak workshop. The kayak workshop is the trip of a lifetime. If you are physically capable of paddling for six days, you owe it to yourself to try it.
