Labyrinth Canyon Stargazing River Trip

Please plan to arrive at our headquarters in Green River, Utah the night before your trip and attend a 7:00 p.m. pre-trip orientation meeting. This is where we’ll provide dry bags and collect any beverages you plan to bring. We’ll review important trip details and answer any questions you may have.

Our warehouse store will be open for any last minute purchases (see our packing checklist for items you can pick up in Green River).

We will meet back at our warehouse bright and early (specific time will be set at the meeting the night before). Depending on the river’s flow and other factors, we will either start our trip just across the bridge at the Green River State Park or a bit farther south at the iconic Ruby Ranch.

Once we are on the water, it is time to relax, reconnect, explore, and marvel at the night sky!

Start your morning with coffee, tea, or cocoa while your guides prepare your first river breakfast. After packing the boats, it will be time to float downstream, and the impressive cliffs become more dramatic with each mile.

Hikes include walking along the ephemeral stream at the bottom of Three Canyon, climbing to the saddle of Bowknot Bend, or exploring historic sites from many different time periods. We may check out historic inscriptions in several places, left by river legends such as Buzz Holmstrom, Norm Nevills, the Kolb brothers, and the mysterious French-Canadian fur trapper, Denis Julien.

From camp, relax by the river’s edge, or take an exploratory hike before dinner. Find a chair or pad and settle in to listen to the stories and mind-blowing realities of our stars.

After one last morning of coffee and breakfast on the river, we’ll float the last handful of miles to the take out at Mineral Bottom. Time allowing, we will have one more stop for a short hike at Hell Roaring Canyon.

The drive out from Mineral Bottom is quite spectacular, as we climb up a series of steep switchbacks that were literally carved out of the canyon wall! We typically arrive back at our Green River headquarters between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Please remember that this is one sample itinerary and may not be the exact trip you will experience. It may be very accurate to the trip you experience, or you may go on different hikes and explore different parts of the canyon. This itinerary is simply to offer an idea of what the trip may be like. We ask that you keep an open mind, stay flexible, and go with the flow!
